Make-ups and missed classes
If you need to miss a class for any reason, you’re welcome to make it up any time within the current session. However, you MUST arrange your make-up in advance; please don’t just drop in to a class! It can be difficult for teachers to have unexpected faces in class, and classes can get very crowded if too many families drop in at the last minute. If you need to schedule a makeup at the last minute, you can call our office – but we can’t guarantee that openings will be available on short notice.

We frequently schedule a week of extra make-up/demo classes at the end of each semester. This is a great time to make up a missed class or bring a friend to check out the fun. If space permits, you’re welcome to attend during that week even if you haven't missed a previous class.
If you miss a class during one semester, it isn't possible to schedule your makeup for the next semester. Make-ups must be scheduled within your current semester.
Weather closing policy
When JCPS cancels classes for the day, we'll cancel for morning classes also, and notify for evening classes by 1pm. When JCPS calls for a Delayed Schedule, we'll notify of decision on morning classes by 8 a.m., and decide the afternoon and evening classes by 1pm. If you're in a class on a day that JCPS has called for a Delayed Schedule, and don't receive an email or text from us, that means the class is running as usual. We'll post that on our website and Facebook page. For Saturday classes, we'll let you know by 8 a.m. if we're cancelling.
If we cancel: We'll send an email/text (have you opted in to receive texts?) to all enrolled families, and also post on our Facebook page and this website home page. Any time we cancel a class due to weather, we'll add an extra class to the end of the term so you'll still get the same number of classes in your semester. Please schedule a make-up any time we have class in session and you don't feel safe on the roads. We want you always to be safe!
Holidays and public school breaks
If our session runs through a national holiday or public school break, we typically have classes as usual. If you have an older child who is off from school on these dates, they’re welcome to join us in class. (We love to see our “graduates,” who are now in preschool or elementary school!) Please let us know in advance who to expect.
Unless you make an arrangement with us in advance, payment is required prior to the start of classes. We can't guarantee your place in class unless we have a payment or a payment arrangement. We welcome split payments and other financial solutions to help you manage your budget. Please ask!
Withdrawals and refunds
We make schedule and financial decisions based on the information we have at the start of classes, and when people withdraw after the start of classes, this can cause us some financial consequences as well as scheduling headaches. Our withdrawal policy reflects this reality.
Withdrawals prior to the start of class: full credit or refund, provided you haven't received your family materials in advance or you return them in new condition.
Withdrawals during the first three weeks of class: refund or credit of half your tuition fee. For our short summer semester, withdrawals during the first week receive a refund or credit of half your tuition fee.
After the third week of classes, no refunds are given. For the short summer session, withdrawals after the first week of class receive no credit or refund. However, if you have special circumstances, please let us know right away. We’ll do our best to honor your needs as well as ours.
You're welcome to invite your friends to join us in class - we love sharing this magic experience with friends! We just ask that you schedule your friend's visit using the demo scheduler, so we can manage class numbers and know who to expect.
Your local friends and family members with children are welcome for a free one-time visit. If you have friends or family members with children visiting from out of town, we appreciate a $10 donation to our scholarship fund on their behalf. We ask that they also use the demo scheduler so we'll know who to expect. Of course, grandparents are welcome any time!
Remember, if a friend enrolls and mentions your name as a referral, both of you get a $15 discount off your tuition for one semester. The referred family must be a NEW enrollment, not currently or previously enrolled. More information about our friendship discount
Note – If you’re caring for a non-enrolled child, you’re welcome to bring them for up to two visits. If they will be visiting for more than two classes, we request a donation to the scholarship fund on their behalf. Alternatively, we might consider enrolling children who are frequent visitors.
We respect your right to own and carry weapons, but we request that you do not bring firearms into our classroom space. Our request that you leave your firearms at home is echoed by many of our host locations, which have no-gun policies for their church or business space. Thank you for your understanding.
Heartland Music Together respects your privacy and will never share, sell, or rent your personal information with third parties for their promotional use. Your email and mailing addresses will be shared only with our licensor Music Together® LLC for educational and quality assurance purposes.
Music Together LLC sends enrolled families an e-newsletter four times per year. If you prefer not to receive these emails, you may unsubscribe via a link at the bottom of each newsletter. Music Together respects your privacy and will never share or sell your email address to anyone else.
From time to time photos or videos may be taken during class and used only for the purposes of promoting our classes on our website, fliers and/or Facebook page. By agreeing to these terms you agree to have you and/or your child's photo taken and used for such purposes. You may opt out of this at any time by notifying info@HeartlandMusicTogether.com.
In addition, you're welcome to take photos of your child in class (though we prefer that you spend class time engaging with your child!). Please respect the privacy of others in the class. If you plan to take photos that include the group, please check in advance to make sure people are comfortable having themselves or their children photographed. This is especially important if you plan to post these images using social media.
